For my car it’s a tail light conversion from a 11-12 model to a 13-14 model. That’ll cost you $1,600.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
What a rip off.

I’m not convinced that all of these new muscle cars aren’t themselves a ripoff. Not trying to throw shade, just maybe too old to appreciate them.

Yeah but those newer taillights are way cooler.
Plus if they’re converting basic to the sequential tail lights, it’s exponentially cooler.
I don’t care for American muscle, but those tail lights are some of best out there.
But if you’re looking for other expensive mods with little purpose, it’s gotta be any other body mods - bumpers, skirts, hoods... Even if you factor in the carbon fiber stuff which has some ‘ bang’ in weight savings, the buck goes up exponentially.

That’s actually not bad, since it’s basically a coil over set up.

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy a pair off a Mustang that got Cars and Coffee’d? Or is the bodywork and wiring different?

Agreed, they are cooler for sure. However, all 2011+ came with sequential. So basically you’re just paying for some blacked put trim.
Also, I actually forget that my lights are sequential since I never see them on.
I’d really only pay for body mods if they’re aerodynamically functional.

A big brake kit, $3380 and completely unnecessary on a street alfa.

I think the only difference is the bottom part. Flat vs a point. You can see a wedge peice that they created to fill the gap. But yeah, a craigslist package would be cheaper. But still an expensive mod.

I have to wonder. Are those really necessary for a track one either. I thought they were pretty light.

I guess, but I can get setups that are just as good (from both a durability and performance standpoint) for about half that.

Admittedly I kinda want a fender mirror from the Japanese Hilux Surf (4runner)
Also these apparently had a power mirror on the outside of the rear tailgate so you could hit a switch and see the hitch ball and rear bumper when backing up. And tripple din radio surround.

NISMO RS seats. A pair of front seats will set you back $3,000-$4,500. Those are also used prices, not new. No Joke.

I was wondering how this was so expensive as the 05-09 upgrade is under $400, then I saw it used OEM parts.
The absolute worst thing about the 10-12s are the tail lights. If I had a 10-12 I would totally do this mod and spend that cash happily.
Worst mod I ever did was an aftermarket MAF meter from a so called performance company, a rather well known one. I put it on in place of the other aftermarket one I already had on my heavily modified Cougar. It was on for less that 10 minutes. The other one went back on.
$250 waste.

Big Turbo kit for the Fiesta ST. If you bought the car to go fast, you should have bought something else. All the big turbo does is make it lose all of it’s low end power(part of what makes it fun) and destroys the transmission. Then, while your doing that, it’s going to need a Quafe.

Don’t get me wrong, if money wasn’t an object I’d swap them in a heart beat. However, I’d rather put that money towards brakes or suspension mods.

For the VR6 its a Supersprint exhaust system which is about $4600 complete not including shipping or taxes. Thats headers, hi-flow cats, resonator and muffler for a supposed roughly 30-35 hp gain. I could get custom stainless headers made then buy other hi-flow cats and exhaust for about half that.

As long as the 2011 ones are sequential, that’s definitely good enough. The newer ones look cooler but not any more than... $100 cooler.
If we’re talking body mods though, aren’t aerodynamically functional pieces usually not even functional at normal road speeds? Like a wing will decrease efficiency from it’s drag up to a certain point where it’s actually contributing legitimate downforce whose benefits will outweigh the negative of the drag. And that point is usually like over 100 mph no? Or am I generalizing too much?
wiffleballtony
> Orange Exige
11/18/2016 at 18:52 | 1 |
I am not an expert by any stretch, but I think that’s the case with wings. If I understand correctly though, spoilers are supposed to increase aerodynamic efficiency. Also some body mods allow for brake ducting and fender vents to deal with air pressure zones as well.

Very few options available, and the ones that are tend to be custom built, 3 piece forged wheels that cost 5k+ for something that really doesn’t do a whole lot performance wise.
